Square Reader

Implementation of Square Reader at Waste Management Sites – May 1, 2025
The Municipality is pleased to announce the implementation of the Square
Reader at our waste management sites, including landfills and transfer stations,
beginning May 1, 2025. This new payment solution will streamline the payment
process and enhance the customer experience by automating transactions and
offering a secure, versatile method for payments.

Key Advantages of the Square Reader:
• Multi-Channel Payment Acceptance: The Municipality can support Visa,
Mastercard, and debit card payments, providing customers with greater
flexibility and reducing the likelihood of lost transactions.
• Enhanced Security: Square Reader is PCI-compliant, ensuring secure
handling of all payments and safeguarding sensitive customer data, helping
to mitigate risks associated with fraud and data breaches.

The adoption of the Square Reader will improve operational efficiency and
customer satisfaction by providing a smooth and secure payment experience.

Additionally, waste management attendants will no longer issue invoices or
accept cash payments. Residents will be required to pay at the time of disposing
of waste. There are currently no changes to the fees
