Temagami, the gateway to Ontario’s wilderness region as one travels north along Highway #11, is the reality that fuels the popular perception of Canada's great northland. Temagami has old growth pine forests, smooth blue waters, brilliantly white powder snow, and bountiful fish and wildlife. Over the centuries, people have been drawn to the area as if by a magnet.

Temagami is truly an adventurer's mecca. This area is legendary for its canoeing, back country hiking, camping, fishing, and snowmobiling. Visitors who spend time in the community can challenge themselves with climbing the fire tower, tour the restored historic train station, enjoy lunch at one of the popular restaurants, visit a boutique or outfitter along the way, or just take it easy with a picnic at the community waterfront.

Temagami is a pleasant town where friendly faces eagerly welcome you.

Official Plan Review covid-19

Update #74
January 20, 2022

*The daily case counts are important to assist health care professionals with predictions and trends. However, since the province has reserved PCR testing for symptomatic people in high-risk settings, the numbers likely do not show the real picture.

With key public health and health system indicators starting to show improvements, Ontario has released details of steps to cautiously and gradually ease public health measure, starting on January 31, 2022. To learn more about how Ontario is planning to safely and gradually reopen
visit: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/public-health-measures#returning-to-our-plan-to-safely-reopen-ontario

People who don’t have access to testing and who have symptoms of COVID-19 are now instructed to assume they have COVID-19 and to self-isolate as indicated in the links below
. For more information visit www.ontario.ca/exposed or www.timiskaminghu.com/90484/COVID-19

In a recent release from the Timiskaming Health Unit, in response to the surge in cases caused by the Omicron variant:
• the Government of Ontario has now restricted access to PCR tests (Assessment Centre tests) to highest risk settings (for a list of highest risk settings, visit www.ontario.ca/exposed)
• public health will not follow up with positive cases outside of the highest risk settings.

Since THU is no longer following up with positive cases outside of the highest risk settings, they will no longer be instructing workplaces to report positive rapid antigen tests to the Timiskaming Health Unit.

As of January 4, 2022, Ontarians are required to use their enhanced vaccine certificate with official QR code. Vaccine receipts without a QR code will no longer be accepted as valid proof of vaccination. If you require assistance with obtaining your enhanced vaccine certificate, please contact the Temagami Family Health Team (705) 569-3244.
