Emergency Response Division

The Municipality of Temagami uses the 9-1-1 emergency call system. Fire calls are received and then dispatched through our paging system. All firefighters carry a pager that will give out a unique tone, and then details of the emergency across their pager from dispatch. Once paged out, the firefighters make their way to the fire hall, where they drive one of the fire apparatus to the scene of the incident.

Meetings are held during the evening, starting at 1900 hrs. We train weekly to make sure we are well trained, and prepared to deal with any and all situations. Once a month, we go over our equipment to make sure that everything is in good working order, and that everything is where it should be.

All of our new recruits are also put through a basic 16 hour training course. At the end of the course, recruits have a good understanding of fire, and how to fight it. Once the course is done, students will continue to learn and upgrade their skills through training done at the fire hall.
