How to Vote


1. Upon receipt of the Vote by Mail Kit, the Elector shall complete the ballot, place it in the inner Secrecy Envelope and seal the envelope.

2. The Elector shall complete the Voter Declaration Form and place it, along with the sealed Secrecy Envelope, in the yellow, prepaid business reply, Return Envelope. If an Elector requires assistance in voting, he/she shall make their mark (i.e. an “X”) on the signature line and have a witness sign in the signature area of the Voter Declaration Form.

3. The yellow, prepaid business reply Return Envelope may be mailed, deposited in the Municipal Office Drop Box, or delivered to the “Ballot Return Station.” Return Envelopes mailed in Canada are prepaid.

4. Following October 13, 2022, Electors are encouraged to deliver their Return Envelope to the Municipal Office, or Electors may choose to send it by priority mail or courier at their own expense.

5. The Clerk or their Designate shall attend the local post office at the end of their business day on Monday, October 24, 2022, to pick up any Return Envelopes received.

6. The Ballot Return Station shall be located at 7 Lakeshore Drive in Temagami for those Electors wishing to deposit or have deposited their Return Envelope directly to the Clerk in advance of Voting Day at the Municipal Office at the Welcome Centre. It shall be open from the set date to Friday, October 21, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and on Monday, October 24, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

7. The mail drop box for the Municipal Office (located beside the west entrance on the upper floor of the Welcome Centre), can be used after hours prior to Monday, October 24, 2022.

8. It is the responsibility of each Elector to complete the ballot in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and the procedures set out in the Vote by Mail Kit, and return it to the Municipal Clerk by mail or by deposit at a Ballot Return Station, or Voting Place, on or before 8:00 p.m. on Voting Day.

9. Ballots received after 8:00 p.m. on Voting Day shall not be counted, but shall be date stamped and retained for the statutory document retention period.
